UNICEF Canada Joins Forces with Veritas Communications to Champion Child Survival

‘No Child Too Far’ brand campaign kick-off celebrated with Bata Shoe Museum induction

TORONTO – November 6, 2012 – UNICEF Canada has named Veritas Communications its new public relations agency of record. The partnership’s first joint venture recently saw the launch of UNICEF Canada’s new three-year, “No Child too Far” brand campaign that seeks to re-engage Canadians with an organization that most will associate with coin collection during Halloween.
“Like many Canadians, carrying UNICEF Canada’s coin box was our first charitable experience as children. We are thrilled for the opportunity to work with this organization to help engage Canadians with the new ways they can donate,” said Krista Webster, President, Veritas Communications.
UNICEF is credited with saving more children’s lives than any other humanitarian agency.  The new UNICEF brand creative, which showcases various objects used by UNICEF field staff to reach vulnerable children around the world, includes a pair of well-worn boots owned by Canadian Nigel Fisher, the current Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Haiti.  Mr. Fisher’s boots, which travelled over 100,000 kilometers in a dozen developing countries in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, were inducted into the Bata Shoe Museum on November 1st, 2012 – an event celebrated by Sonja Bata, Founding Chairman of the Bata Shoe Museum, David Morley, UNICEF Canada President and CEO, UNICEF staff members and other supporters of the organization.
“UNICEF is embarking on a very exciting phase of connecting, mobilizing and empowering Canadians to positively transform the lives of children around the world,” said Sharon Avery, Chief of Development at UNICEF Canada.  “We are eager to build on the success of our launch event at the Bata Shoe Museum and how we can leverage this great partnership further to heighten Canadian’s understanding of our work to drastically reduce the number of daily preventable child deaths in developing nations.”
Along with the induction of Nigel’s boots, Veritas will help promote UNICEF Canada’s Survival Gift Guide that includes a collection of items essential for child survival and development and raise the profile of key UNICEF Canada staff, global reports on child-well-being, upcoming events and donating opportunities.
